Sanya -China


Blackpool was twinned with Sanya China in September 2016 and a delegation from Sanya Xindi International Standard Latin Dance Art Centre’s visited Blackpool firstly in May 2017, and again this year, during the 2017 visit we had a meeting and the teachers of the school booked me to Coach them.


As a thank you I received a beautiful present of a scarf made in Sanya








I was introduced to Sanya Xindi International Standard Latin Dance Art Centre’s and hopefully will be travelling to Sanya in a few years.

Where is Sanya?

It is  6,065 miles from Sanya to Blackpool


Sanya is on the Southern coast of the Island of Hainan It is renowned for its tropical climate and has emerged as one of China’s popular tourist destinations.

Blackpool is on the west cost of the UK  It rose to prominence as a major centre of tourism in England when a railway was built in the 1840s connecting it to the industrialised regions of Northern England.



Sanya enjoys nearly 300 days of sunlight every year, which is the longest in China, and thus dubbed “the Sun City.”

Blackpool has, like all of the UK, a temperate maritime climate Thus the same cool summer, frequent overcast skies, and small annual temperature range is typical.



Sanya has a population of around 685,000 inhabitants living in an area of 740 square miles.

Blackpool has a population of around 142,065 inhabitants living in an area of 13.4 square miles.



Sanya is home to the largest gold and jade Buddha statue, Nan Shan “Gold and Jade Bodhisattva Guanyin”, in the world.
